Volleyball NSW receive Her Sport Her Way Grant Funding

Published Mon 16 Jan 2023

Volleyball NSW is excited to announce our successful funding application to the Her Sport Her Way grant program to increase our Effective Governance Practices!

Volleyball NSW strives to build sustainable state and club personnel capability, upskilling, training and engaging leaders across our state, prioritising formal educational learning through access to the AICD Foundational Governance Course and will provide participants with an understanding of fundamental compliance and performance-related roles and responsibilities of directors, specifically in the areas of governance, risk, financial performance and strategy.

COO Rebecca Walter has recently attended the AICD Governance Course and stated:

“the more our community appreciates the responsibility of our boards and committees and the positive impact sound governance practices has on our future sustainability, the greater capacity we have collectively as a sport to grow and innovate.”

We seek to increase the effectiveness of our boards and management in relation to female participation through improvements to policies, processes, stakeholder relationships, strategic planning and the whole of sport communication with a sustainable and multi-year focus.

Volleyball NSW CEO, Baz Wedmaier said

“the growth we have experienced over the past 3 years has been unprecedented, and the time is now to invest in the capacity, capability and sustainability of our many volunteers across Volleyball committees and boards throughout NSW. This is a very exciting time to see how we can push the boundaries of development across all aspects of sports administration and truly experience flow-on effect to policy, procedures and effective governance practices!”

Volleyball NSW will be working closely with Sport NSW, AICD and Volleyball Clubs and Associations to ensure the most effective delivery of this exciting project in 2023. Stay tuned.
