2023 NSW Beach Championships
Published Tue 07 Mar 2023
The 22/23 Beach Volleyball Season has come to an end with another stellar finish at Manly beach for the NSW Beach Championships. All athletes brought out their best and we witnessed some of their best games of the whole season.
This past weekend we had our biggest number of athletes competing across 3 divisions for a total of 192 athletes. We also welcomed 16 out of state teams/players, 4 from Victoria and ACT and 8 from Queensland.
Competition was fierce from Day 1, with a notable shout out to the Women’s Division 2 teams having 6 out of their 8 pool play games going to 3 sets. On Day 2, teams cranked it up a notch and we had many quarters and semis also going to 3 sets. This high-level volleyball also created large crowds along the boulevard and prompted many passers-by to simply stop and catch the action. Finals for Division 1 were also commented on through the talents of Josh Hillard, who gave plenty of game insight and kept the crowd entertained.
Overall, the whole season was a success and the team here at VNSW walked away happy with our efforts and the season has a whole. Congratulations to all players from the Champs and previous Rounds that showcased the talent of NSW. Plenty of Juniors were also able to walk away with medals throughout the season and we can’t wait to see how they improve and continue to grow in future.
