2024 Phoenix AVSL Squad Announcement 

We're thrilled to unveil the teams that will represent your NSW Phoenix in the 2024 Australian Volleyball Super League season! This year NSW will see some new faces as well as some returning players from the 2023 season, and our chosen teams are ready to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.

The 2024 season will include 5 regular rounds of play with your NSW Phoenix hosting 3 home rounds throughout the season. The season will showcase the new Super League format from last year, with the most notable changes from the traditional volleyball format being: 

• All round matches are played in 5 compulsory sets. A set is won by the team who scores 18 points first
• All finals matches are played best of 5 sets. A set is won by the team 18 points with a minimum lead of two points. The match is won by the team that wins three sets
• All intervals between sets last 2 minutes
• The team changes sides during the interval between the second and third set only
• Teams do not change sides during the fifth set
• A maximum of 3 power plays (PP) per match per team
• The PP period lasts for 3 rallies after approval by match officials
• Any rally won by the team that was approved by the PP, will score 2 points
• Both teams can request a PP that overlaps another i.e. can run concurrently
• PP must be requested before (the requesting team reaches) 12 points in the set
• No time-outs allowed.

The 2024 Super League season is shaping up to be a fun, dynamic and highly competitive season, will all teams bringing their A-game! Make sure you head to Netball Central on the 31st of August, 7th of September and 29th of September to support your NSW Phoenix teams in their pursuit for glory!
