Andrew Olsen Wins NSW Young Coach of the Year at Sport NSW Community Sports Awards

On a night celebrating the dedication and achievements of community sports across New South Wales, we would like to again congratulate our finalists for their wonderful achievement of being nominated in their respective categories. These individuals' efforts reflect the tireless commitment and dedication they make to our sport but also reflect how far we have progressed as a sport within the sporting community.

Andrew Olsen emerged as a standout winner at the Sport NSW Community Sports Awards, clinching the NSW Young Coach of the Year title. Olsen's dedication and his ability to connect with young athletes have made him a rising star in the coaching realm. His commitment to developing young talent has not gone unnoticed within our community and we again congratulate Andrew on his well-deserved recognition.

The Sports NSW Community Sports Awards also recognised other remarkable finalists who have made significant contributions to community sports despite not winning their categories. Among them was Jenny Towers, a finalist for Community Coach of the Year. Towers has been instrumental in developing our Phoenix athletes and has tirelessly worked to foster a love for volleyball within our community, volunteering her time to mentor our young athletes of all skill levels.

Vasilija Simunovic, who was also in the running for NSW Young Coach of the Year and up against Andrew. Despite not winning this award, Simunovic's contributions to coaching have been widely acknowledged, and her nomination underscores her significant impact on the community and the athletes she mentors, congratulations Vasilija for your nomination!

The NSW Beach Volleyball Tour was nominated for Community Event of the Year. This event has been pivotal in promoting the sport of beach volleyball across the state, providing opportunities for community engagement and showcasing local talent. The nomination highlights the tour's success in fostering a sense of community and enthusiasm for the sport. Shoutout to Francisco Brignone and Rushda Nash who without their tireless work the NSW Beach Tour would not be the success it was.

Once against Volleyball NSW would like to congratulate all our finalists for their wonderful efforts and achievements, being nominated for this award was a a great achievement in itself.
