NSW Athletes Showcasing Talents on Australian Beach Volleyball Tour and Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Tour!

The Australian Beach Tour Kicks Off in Glenelg, South Australia

The Australian Beach Tour kicked off this past weekend in Glenelg, South Australia. Our NSW athletes showcased their skills on the national stage, proving that we are a force in the beach volleyball scene. Our athletes came away with top performances in both the Elite and Challenger divisions.

Elite Division Highlights

Congratulations to the three NSW men’s pairs—Adam Fejes & Mateusz Zieba, Tim Schubiger & Bailey Slessor, and Lewis Jupp & Jett Rocker-Graham—who all advanced to the top 16 in the Men’s Elite Division. Special mention goes to Tim Schubiger and Bailey Slessor, who progressed all the way to the Round of 8.

In the Women’s Elite Division, four NSW pairs made it to the top 16: Nicola Heffer & Clara Cecilie Lassen, Georgina Vanloo (SA) & Mali Towers, Mireille Smith & Remy Song, and Chantal Tung & Nicole Tung. A special congratulations to the NSW sister duo of Chantal and Nicole Tung, who made it to the qaurter-finals but went down in a tough match up against evenutal silver medalists from Victoria. 

Challenger Division Success

In the Men’s Challenger Division, NSW pairs dominated the podium, claiming all three medal positions. Congratulations to:

  • 1st: Vladimir Prushkovskiy & Anton Teptsov
  • 2nd: Yannick Schmidt-Behn & Thomas Romo
  • 3rd: Rohan Kumar & Sebastian Morandi Galindo

On the Women’s side, Aimee Lamb, teamed up with Queenslander Maeve McCowen, took out first place. Alessia Capponcelli & Alyona Serebriakova secured the bronze medal.

AJBVT Round 1 Results

Following the ABVT event, the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Tour (AJBVT) hosted its first round, with many of our Phoenix athletes competing in the U19 and U21 divisions. Several athletes backed up their solid performances from the ABVT round 1 event and set an excellent benchmark for the rest of the beach season.

Here are the results from AJBVT Round 1:

  • U19 Women:
    1st – Remy Song / Mireille Smith

  • U21 Men:
    1st – Jett Rocker-Graham / Luka Sazdov (QLD)

  • U21 Women:
    2nd – Mali Towers / Georgina Vanloo (SA)
    4th – Chelsea Cocks / Jessica Hunter

Looking Ahead
