Phoenix Athletes Making Moves On The National Tour and International Events

The ABVT  Round 3 Cobram Boorga Classic was another great event and opportunity for our athletes to develop and compete against Australia's top beach athletes. We had several pairings in both the men's and women's elite and challenger divisions. As the players gear up for the Australian Beach Tour Championships, which will be held in Coolangatta at the end of March, it was great to see many of them progress to the later stages of the tournament. To finish what was a big week of beach volleyball, some of our NSW Phoenix athletes attended the Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. These events are designed as a stepping stone for future athletes to enter the Pro Tour as well as bring beach events to even more places around the world. This event was a great opportunity for our athletes to compete against top world-class athletes from around the world, who are also aspiring to break into the elite beach volleyball scene.  The event saw 26 men’s teams and 23 women’s teams representing 11 different countries taking part in the Mount Maunganui Futures. The next Futures event will be held in Coolangatta, Australia, from March 26 to 30, and we look forward to having another opportunity for our athletes to compete on home soil! Despite none of our athletes making it into the main draw, they all showed huge promise and took their opponents down to the wire in their matches.

Jett Rocker Graham/ Timothee Phillipe (QLD) loss vs Canada 1:2 (19:21, 21:12, 11:15)
