Phoenix Round 5 Results

What a match-up for our final 2024 Australian Volleyball Super League home round! Netball Central was prepped and transformed into a volleyballer's dream venue! With a potential finals spot on the line, NSW Phoenix was pumped and ready to sore as they took on long-time rivals Queensland Pirates. 

Phoenix men kicked off the afternoon in a thrilling match where they showed resilience and continued to improve their game each from week to week of this competition. Despite falling to a strong Pirates team, NSW has shown the young talent and depth coming through our state, and that in years to come, they will be a force to be reckoned with within the Australian Volleyball League! 

Match Results: NSW Phoenix def by QLD Pirates 0:5 (12:18, 15:18, 10:18, 14:18, 14:18) 

Next up was our Phoenix women, who added some new faces to the lineup in the hopes of bringing a strong impact to the game. Emily Strik and Yumi Cailloce brought new strategies to the game in the hopes of giving Phoenix a leg up and snagging a spot in the series finals. However, after three nailing-biting sets, NSW Phoenix couldn't get the job done against a strong Pirates team. Once again, our NSW women have shown that the young talent within the NSW is strong and will be fierce competitors within years to come!

NSW has one remaining regular season round game next weekend against another strong team, Melbourne Vipers. Our Phoenix crew will be looking to bring home two wins on the road as well as some valuable points for the overall leaderboard!
