Pre SVL Community Reminders

As we approach a new season, it's important to remind everyone of the core values that make our volleyball community strong and supportive. At Volleyball NSW, we strive to foster a positive and respectful environment for all members—players, coaches, officials, staff, and supporters alike. Here is a reminder of the key behaviours we expect everyone in our community and organisation to uphold.

Respect The Game

Respect your Officials and Rules: Officials and referees are integral to the game, and they’re doing their best to ensure fair play. Treat them with respect and kindness, whether you agree with a call or not. Remember, they are there to ensure the game runs smoothly and fairly for everyone involved.

Respect your Competitors: Good sportsmanship is one of the cornerstones of volleyball. Whether you win or lose, always treat your opponents with respect. At the end of the day, we’re all here for the love of the game and to enjoy the experience together. Let’s keep the competition friendly and fair!

Respect your Teammates: Your teammates are your family on the court. Show them the love and support they deserve—whether they’re having a good game or struggling. Volleyball is a team sport, and together, you can accomplish more than you can alone.

Respect the Volleyball NSW and Netball Central Staff: The staff at Volleyball NSW and Netball Central work hard each week to provide a top-tier competition, and to create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for everyone. Show them the respect they deserve and thank them for their efforts when you can. They play a crucial role in making everything run smoothly!

 Venue Etiquette

Netball Central is home to Volleyball in NSW, and we’re fortunate to have such a fantastic venue. To keep it pristine for everyone’s enjoyment, here are a few simple reminders:

Clean Up After Matches: Always make sure your team’s bench and surrounding area are free of rubbish, bags, and personal belongings. If you come across something that doesn’t belong to you, kindly hand it in to the competition desk. A tidy space is a respectful space!

Recycle Bottles and Cans: We all know the importance of keeping our environment clean. After finishing your Gatorade or morning energy drink, please be sure to recycle your bottles and cans in the yellow bins provided throughout Netball Central. Our little efforts can make a big difference!

Respect the Equipment: Volleyball equipment is an investment, so let's take care of it! Keep match balls safe by not hitting them too hard, and remember that the antenna is only about a centimetre wide—it's tricky, but try not to hit it. A little care goes a long way in preserving the quality of the game.

Let’s work together to keep Netball Central as clean as your setters hands this indoor season 🫧🧼 or you'll be receiving more than just a double call from the refs, with fines being issued to clubs, teams or all court users not upholding the standards.

Integrity – See an Issue? Report it Immediately!

If you ever see or hear of something that doesn’t seem right, we encourage you to report it. Volleyball NSW and Volleyball Australia have procedures in place to ensure that our sport remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.

National Integrity Framework - The National Integrity Framework includes policies on a wide range of issues, such as child safety, member protection, illicit drugs, competition manipulation, and more. These policies are in place to protect everyone in the sport, from athletes to coaches and volunteers.

All members of Volleyball NSW - athletes, coaches, support personnel, employees, and volunteers—are bound by these integrity policies. If you see something concerning, do something about it. Reporting an issue helps create a safer, fairer, and more trustworthy environment for all.

For more information on the National Integrity Framework and how to report an issue, visit our intergity tab on our website.

Together, We Can Make Volleyball Better

By following these simple guidelines—respecting the game, the venue, and each other—we can ensure that volleyball remains a positive experience for all. We’re all in this together, and it’s up to all of us to make our sport a safe, enjoyable, and respectful place for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing everyone on the court this upcoming SVL season!
