Regional Academy Of Sport Games 2025!

The 2025 Your Local Club Academy Games was hosted by the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th April 2025 in Tamworth, NSW.

This event showcased some of the state’s most talented and emerging athletes across eight (8) sports including Basketball, Cycling, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Indoor Volleyball, Softball and Triathlon. It was fantastic to have NSW Phoenix Assistant Coach Kelly Hunter supporting the event with her attendance, as well as being there to assist in identifying future Phoenix talent.

When asked about the event Kelly stated:

"The regional academy games held in Tamworth over the weekend showcased boys and girls teams from the Illawarra, Hunter, Western Sydney and South West Sydney academies. There were some very close games across the weekend, with Western Sydney coming out on top in the girls, and South West Sydney winning the boys competition. Attending the games was a great way to identify some new talent in our youth age groups leading into the Phoenix State team trials next month."

The Youth RASi Network is an exciting new partnership between the Regional Academies of Sport Incorporated (RASi) and Volleyball NSW to support the holistic development of athletes and coaches in Youth performance pathway programs.

The program serves to:

  • Be the state endorsed development program for athletes and coaches who are currently or who aspire to be identified for and nominated to the NSW Phoenix performance programs.
  • Establish a holistic sport specific and athletic education baseline for pre-elite athletes.
  • Deliver a standardised local training environment directly in line with NSW Phoenix performance priorities.

It was great to see these athletes out on the court showcasing their hardowrk and dedication to the sport, whilst also enjoying themselves and having fun!
