VNSW 2022 AGM Wrap Up

Published Fri 20 May 2022

On May 19, VNSW held its Annual General Meeting with some significant determinations.

VNSW, over the past ten years, has gone through significant changes and at the helm of this has been Deb Chung as a Board Member and President. At the AGM, Deb formally announced she would be stepping down from the VNSW Board of Directors. Dubbed the “mother of the modern VNSW”, Deb has been instrumental in driving changes to the organisation allowing for growth and development at every level. During the meeting, Deb commented on some of the changes she has seen and thanked many of the past and current club administrators, staff and Board members who have all helped along the way.

One of Deb's more recent changes was the reintroduction of the VNSW Life Membership Award. At the nomination of her club (UTS) and supported unanimously by the council, Deb was then confirmed as the inaugural recipient of Life Membership under the new structure that recognises those who significantly contribute to our great sport.

Deb said that she is extremely grateful for the recognition but also reiterated she will continue to contribute to the sport through her club, community, and coaching roles.

Another significant change was that after eight years on the Board, Victor Jiang also decided to step down from the VNSW Board of Directors. His contribution to the sport, especially in financial management, has been invaluable in getting VNSW to where it is today.

All at the meeting thanked both Deb & Vic for their contributions to the sport and VNSW over such a long period.

At the conclusion of the AGM, the Board met to ratify Lucy Coggan as President for her 2nd year leading VNSW and continuing the growth of the sport.
