Junior Indoor Phoenix

(Updated 17/04/2022)

OVERVIEW

WHY

First introduced in 2021, Junior Indoor Phoenix is the performance program to prepare NSW representative teams for the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships (AJVC).

WHO

Junior Indoor Phoenix is a state-wide age specific program (Under 19 and Under 23) that aims to target the highest performing male and female athletes living within NSW.

Head coaches will be appointed to each age group and gender, who will also work with a number of suitable assistant coaches and support staff.

Referees will also be required to fill available positions at the AJVC.

WHAT

Junior Indoor Phoenix is a team based program, offered on an annual basis in preparation for the AJVC.

Selected athletes and coaches will go through a 3 Phase process including:

  • Nomination: Opportunities to apply for positions in the program through methods such as nomination forms, talent identification, and trial events.
  • Squad: A group of selected athletes and coaches undergo NSW based centralised development and training opportunities.
  • Team: The Squad group is narrowed to only athletes and coaches required for the AJVC. Selected athletes and coaches undergo further centralised development and training prior to traveling to and competing at the AJVC.

VNSW is required to provide a number of referee delegates for the AJVC, depending on the number of teams entered.

Referees can gain indoor specific experience by officiating in the schedule of NSW State Cup events and Sydney Volleyball League held every year between March to November.

The NSW Volleyball Referees Association co-ordinates all referee appointments. Please express your interest by sending an email titled "EOI AJVC" to appointments@nswvbrefs.org.au. Make sure to include your current refereeing experience.
